A "Last Address" memorial sign has been dedicated in Moscow in honor of Benjamin Zuskin

On December 15, in Moscow, at 10 Tverskoy Boulevard, a "Last Address" memorial sign was installed in honor of Veniamin Lvovich Zuskin, actor and director of the Moscow State Jewish Theater and an associate of Solomon Mikhoels.

In 1948, following the murder of Solomon Mikhoels, Veniamin Zuskin assumed the role of artistic director of the Moscow State Jewish Theater. However, his tenure was brief; by late that year, he was arrested under the fabricated Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee case and was executed in August 1952. Zuskin was fully rehabilitated posthumously in 1955. Literary critic Mikhail Sheinker reflects on the life of this remarkable figure:

The installation of the memorial sign was initiated by the Director General of the EAJC-Russia Foundation, Bella Valdberg. She has also spearheaded initiatives to install several additional memorial signs for victims of Stalin's anti-Semitic campaign.  "Only now, 70 years after this horrific, barbaric massacre of Jews, is the memory of these events beginning to emerge," states Bella Valdberg. "The recovery of memory brings hope for a broader recognition of the atrocious crime committed by the totalitarian Soviet regime against all peoples of the USSR without exception."
