The 6th Interfaith Spartakiad was held in St. Petersburg. Teams representing various religious and national communities of the city competed across several sporting disciplines, including Jewish athletes from the Euro-Asian Maccabi Association, an affiliate organization of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress.
"We are pleased to participate in and support this initiative, as sports foster peace, equality, mutual understanding, and respect between different faiths. It is our hope that the ancient prophecies will soon be fulfilled, and nations will rise against each other no more, with humanity recognizing that we entered this world not for strife, but to build and create," stated Vadim Polyansky, Chairman of Maccabi Russia, at the opening ceremony.
