
On Thursday (April 12), a joint meeting of the working groups of the World Jewish Congress (WJC), led by Program Director Sonia Gomez de Mesquita, and the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, led by Director General Dr. Haim Ben Yakov, took place in Tel Aviv. WJC representatives outlined the structure of their organization and presented its objectives.
Dr. Ben Yakov detailed the new structure of the EAJC and the organizational developments of the past year. In particular, the Director General of the EAJC emphasized that, effective September 1, 2017, the headquarters of the EAJC are located in the State of Israel, while the EAJC office in the Republic of Kazakhstan is to be reorganized into a branch. A new branch is also scheduled to open in the Balkans. Furthermore, as a result of the reorganization, effective March 1, 2018, the official representatives of the EAJC in Russia are Aaron Frenkel, Chairman of the Board of the EAJC, and Temur Khikhinashvili (Ben Yehuda), First Vice-President of the EAJC, while Alexander Levin, Vice-President of the EAJC, represents the EAJC in Ukraine.
In addition, the working groups discussed joint projects and agreed to expand future cooperation.
