The EAJC strongly condemns the desecration of religious shrines in Lebanon

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress expresses its profound regret regarding the incident involving the desecration of a Christian religious symbol in southern Lebanon, which was allegedly committed by a member of the Israel Defense Forces.

We strongly condemn any demonstration of disrespect toward religious shrines and symbols. Such actions directly contradict the universal values of mutual respect and human dignity, as well as the fundamental principles underpinning Jewish tradition.

We welcome the prompt response of the Israel Defense Forces and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel, who condemned the incident and initiated a thorough investigation. We consider it of paramount importance to comprehensively establish all circumstances surrounding the event.

Throughout the centuries, Jewish tradition has upheld the necessity of respecting the faith and sacred objects of other nations. The State of Israel consistently champions freedom of religion and the protection of religious diversity.
