Support for the All-Russian Union of Jewish Students

Supporting and expanding the activities of the All-Russian Union of Jewish Students; organizing Jewish holiday celebrations on university campuses; inviting Israeli Jewish lecturers to conduct educational programs for Jewish students at major Russian universities; establishing a platform for communication and networking among young Russian students; and combating antisemitism.

The Russian Union of Jewish Students was founded in 2015 on the initiative of Shota Mirilashvili, President of the Union of Israeli Students (Jewish Club) at MGIMO. The project's stated mission is to unite and provide comprehensive support to Jewish students across Russia. Following a meeting between the Union’s founders (Shota Mirilashvili, Ilya Rozentsveig, Lidia Gangan, and Alexander Latyshev) and the Chief Rabbi of Russia, Berel Lazar, the formal decision to establish the Union was finalized.

Rabbi Shimon Krasnodomsky of the Michurinsky Prospekt Synagogue was appointed as the spiritual mentor of the Union. The official launch of the Union was announced on March 10, 2015, during a charity concert celebrating Purim at MGIMO. Concurrently with the establishment of the Union, a tutoring initiative was launched in partnership with the "Path to Life" charitable foundation. To date, the Union comprises 11 Jewish clubs representing universities such as MGIMO, MSU, MSAL, RUDN, Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, RANEPA, HSE, RSUH, and MSPU. The Union also maintains representatives in Jerusalem, London, and Paris.

Since January 2017, the All-Russian Union has been a member of the World Union of Jewish Students (WUJS). Its mission is to unite and provide comprehensive support to all Jewish students in Moscow, and ultimately, throughout Russia. Its core objective is to assist Jewish students in their daily lives.

Key Areas of Activity:

1. Convening meetings, assemblies, conferences, and conventions;

2. Organizing and hosting high-impact masterclasses for students on diverse subjects, featuring prominent and authoritative guest speakers;

3. Organizing educational and cultural study trips within Russia and internationally;

4. Educational outreach, including seminars and lectures on Jewish culture, tolerance, intercultural awareness, and other critical topics;

5. Providing social welfare assistance to Jewish students in need;

6. Charitable initiatives;

7. Facilitating scholarship programs and grants for high-achieving Jewish students;

8. Advocating for the interests of Jewish students;

9. Fostering cooperation and international exchanges with other Jewish student and youth organizations worldwide;

10. Enhancing and promoting the public profile of Russian Jewish students and the wider Russian Jewish community.
