Urgency of the theme of tolerance and nonviolence is determined by realities of the modern world: constantly flashing interethnic conflicts (which bloody consequences turn to be more and more difficult to get rid of) and negative influence of intolerance, violence, xenophobia, anti-Semitism, discrimination prevent mankind from to solving essential vital problems.
The world was always broken off with contradictions. The violence frequently became the norm. More often those who lived beside were exposed to hatred as they were "others", "aliens". Jews as nobody else have experienced xenophobia since after destruction of the Second Temple its people were dispersed all round the world to live among other nations. And relation of governors, authorities or local population to them showed if it was the "Golden Age" or pogroms, slaughter, the Catastrophe...
