Slovenia is home to Jewish communities of both Ashkenazi and Sephardic descent. The majority reside in Ljubljana. The Slovenian Jewish community actively participates in the cultural and political life of the nation.

Following Slovenia's declaration of independence in 1992, the Jewish Cultural Center in Ljubljana was established. In 2003, a new synagogue was officially opened in Ljubljana.
