The Markish Case: A Documentary

The documentary "The Markish Case," chronicling the life of writer and public figure David Markish, is a distinguished project by the Babel Bookstore (Tel Aviv) in collaboration with the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress.

David Markish is a prominent author of fifteen novels, an essayist, and a public figure. He is the son of Peretz Markish, a renowned poet and one of the leaders of the Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee. David Markish has resided in Israel since the early 1970s. A recipient of numerous Israeli and international literary awards, his works have been widely translated into Hebrew and European languages.

"The Markish Case" features first-hand testimonies from the author regarding his life, the history of the Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee, the "refusenik" movement, the emigration of his family to Israel, their lives there, key figures he encountered, and his literary work. The film is divided into five episodes and will be broadcast both online and on television.

The documentary was conceived and directed by Lena Kogan and produced by Evgeny Kogan, the founders of Babel Bookstore. Following the film's release, the creators plan to publish a biographical volume on David Markish.
