The Sefer Center, an international public organization established in 1994, is an association of Jewish studies researchers and university lecturers. It supports undergraduate, postgraduate, and academic professionals across all fields of Jewish studies, facilitating scholarly research in this area.

Today, Sefer is the largest organization in the post-Soviet space, bringing together professionals involved in the study of Jewish civilization, its heritage, and the contemporary status of Jewish communities. The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress actively supports Sefer’s operations, contributing to the realization of major international conferences, publishing initiatives, and youth programs.

The Sefer Center fosters intercultural and interfaith dialogue in the post-Soviet space, promotes interest under academic study in Jewish history and culture, and enhances the standard of Jewish studies instruction in higher education institutions.

Sefer’s scope of activities extends beyond strictly academic boundaries; the project plays a vital educational and cultural role within Jewish communities, preserving the memory of the traditions and way of life of Jewry in the Euro-Asian region.

Sefer conferences serve as a crucial platform for leadership meetings of Jewish academic organizations and the exchange of experience. Sefer's field and stationary schools play a significant role in the professional training of young specialists interested in studying Jewish cultural heritage, history, and other disciplines.

The publishing program of the Sefer Center is one of the primary avenues for disseminating research on Jewish civilization. This includes the annual journal for young researchers 'Tirosh', the annual publication on the interactions between Slavic and Jewish cultures, the peer-reviewed Judaic-Slavic Journal, and volumes compiled from the findings of field research expeditions.
